WHY MICRO METALSMITHS?
Micro Metalsmiths can blend numerous process capabilities to provide a unique combination which enables the above requirements to be met.
1 Swept connectors for the Aerospace industry used as part of the conduit wiring harness for aircraft, where excellent surface finish is required without split lines to avoid chafing of wires.
2 Missiles often require low volume specialised backshells. Discussion with our Customer Liaison Engineers can result in mating parts being cast, allowing fits which do not demand subsequent machining.
3 Breathing equipment often requires parts with complex internal shapes calling for fabrication and difficult or multiple machining operations. Micro Metalsmiths castings have removed these needs.
Electrical connectors are sometimes required in small volume and the MM casting process can meet the specific needs of the customer, rather than changing other areas of design in order to use an existing "standard" part.
By using the soluble core techniques, with which we are very experienced, internal swept corners can be produced. This is not possible using conventional sliding metal cores.
